Reconstituted Permanent Population Committee Holds First 2025 Meeting

The Permanent Population Committee (PPC) convened its first meeting in 2025 following its reconstitution by a Council of Ministers decision. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of the National Planning Council and Chairman of the Permanent Population Committee.

Opening the meeting, His Excellency warmly welcomed the newly appointed members, commending the confidence placed in them by the decision. He underscored the Committee’s critical role in supporting the State’s strategic directions in the fields of population and development. Furthermore, he conveyed his profound gratitude to the former PPC members for their diligent and constructive contributions throughout their tenure.

The formation of the Permanent Population Committee reaffirms Qatar’s persistent commitment to advancing population governance and ensuring alignment between population and development policies. In line with its mandate, the Committee plays a central role in proposing general population policies, monitoring the implementation of the National Population Policy, facilitating inter-agency coordination, and overseeing national research in the field.

This meeting marks a new momentum in the Committee’s work, amid demographic challenges and transformations, contributing to the realization of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the advancement of population and development sustainability in the country.

Concluding the meeting, H.E. Dr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa praised the constructive engagement of the new members, emphasizing that the next phase requires integrated and well-coordinated national efforts to fulfill the country’s aspirations in the area of population policies. ​
