On Thursday, 22 May, the National Planning Council (NPC) held an introductory workshop on Qatar Data Trust Index (QDTI), as part of its National Data Program, aimed to raise institutional awareness among NPC employees of the importance of data quality and governance tools.
The workshop presented a comprehensive overview to the National Data Program, highlighting its strategic objectives in enabling effective data governance, improving data quality and efficiency, and promoting decision-making based on accurate and reliable data.
The workshop also reviewed the most prominent national data governance and management projects, namely the national data regulations, the regulatory framework for compliance with data regulations, Qatar Data Trust Index, Qatar Insights Platform (QInsights), the Open Data Platform, and the 2025 Census. These projects were highlighted for their critical role in promoting institutional integration and supporting the government's digital transformation efforts.
A particular focus was placed on the QDTI as a national tool designed to measure data quality. The workshop emphasized the importance of adopting this index across all government agencies and national indicators. Participants discussed the necessary steps for activating the QDTI within the National Planning Council by applying it to existing data sources and datasets, in order to ensure the efficiency of national data in supporting the development planning.
The workshop also addressed national data governance, outlining the establishment of a regulatory framework at the state level. This framework encompasses national data policies and standards, along with the national guide to help entities comply with data regulations, ensuring unified and reliable data governance and management in government and semi-government entities.
In the same context, the workshop discussed providing integrated national and sectoral databases to enable secure data sharing and management so as to support data-driven strategic decision-making.
The QDTI, a core component of the National Data Program, serves as an executive tool of the National Data and Statistics Strategy. It supports government entities in enhancing the efficiency of data and statistics used in decision-making, ultimately contributing to the successful implementation of the Third National Development Strategy and realization of Qatar National Vision 2030.
