In the New Edition of “Qatar; Monthly Statistics” Bulletin Traffic Accident Deaths Decreased during December 2021, by 21.4% Compared to November 2021, with an Annual Decrease of 47.6% (Compared to December 2020).

​The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 96th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis.  In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during December 2021 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2020 Census. 


One of the prominent changes in this issue is the rise in the total number of ships arriving at Qatar ports and the increase in net tonnage at a monthly rate of 8.5% and 52.0%, respectively (compared to November 2021), and at an annual rate of 0.3% and 5.1%, respectively (compared to December 2020).


Furthermore, among the most notable changes is the increase in the Market General Index (points), at a monthly rate of 2.1% (compared to November 2021), and at annual rate of 11.4% (compared to December 2020). This month also witnessed an increase in total deposits and credit facilities of commercial banks by 1.1% and 0.2%, respectively (compared to November 2021). The total deposits and credit facilities of commercial banks increased at an annual rate of 7.6% and 7.8%, respectively (compared to December 2020).

The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has decreased from 2.684 million during December 2020 to 2.677 million at end of December 2021.
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 1741 live births have been registered during December 2021. Also, a decrease in the total Qatari live births by 11.3% compared to last month. On the other hand, 185 deaths were recorded during the same period, a decrease of 8.9% compared to November 2021. 

Moreover, December 2021 has experienced a monthly increase by 3.6% and 10.3% in marriage contracts and divorce certificates respectively. The total number of marriage contracts was 403 contracts, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 192 divorce cases. 

As for the Social Security statements, reached 79 Million Qatari Riyals in December 2021, for 14112 beneficiaries, Recording a monthly decrease of 0.5% for the value of social security and a monthly increase of 0.4% for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.

Total electricity consumption during December 2021 was 2972.8 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 16.1% and an annual increase of 9.0%. While the total water consumption has reached 53452.8 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly decrease of 0.1% and an annual decrease of 0.8%. 

As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 608.5 Billion Qatari Riyals during December 2021, an annual increase of 1.4% compared with December 2020. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 974.1 Billion Qatari Riyals during December 2021. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 7.6% compared to December 2020, when deposits recorded approximately 905.0 Billion Qatari Riyals.

Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 672 permits during December 2021, recording a monthly decrease of 16.2% and an annual decrease of 30.9%.

The total number of registered new vehicles during December 2021 has reached 7212 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly increase of 4.8% and an annual increase of 23.8%. 

Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 838 traffic cases were recorded during December 2021, showing a monthly increase of 12.0% and an annual increase by 33.2%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 90%, followed by severe injuries by 9%. However, 11 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 1% of total traffic accidents cases.
