In the New Edition of “Qatar; Monthly Statistics” Bulletin Total Qatari Live Births Rose by 2.4% during February 2022 Compared to January 2022; an Annual Increase of 4.6% (Compared to February 2021).

The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 98th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis.  In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during February 2022 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2020 Census. 


One of the most prominent changes in this issue is the rise in the total number and value of sold properties, at a monthly rate of 13.2% and 5.3, respectively (compared to January 2022). However, it recorded an annual decrease of 12.6% and 1.7%, respectively (compared to February 2021).

Furthermore, among the most notable changes is the decline in the Household Consumption (the overall index) at a monthly rate of 0.26% (compared to January 2022), although it increased annually by 4.2% (compared to February 2021). Housing recorded the highest increase by 1.36%, in contrast to Entertainment & Culture category, which recorded the largest decrease by 3.37% (compared to January 2022).

The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has increased from 2.66 million during February 2021 to 2.81 million at end of February 2022.
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 1750 live births have been registered during February 2022. Also, an increase in the total Qatari live births by 2.4% compared to last month. On the other hand, 228 deaths were recorded during the same period, a decrease of 21.9% compared to January 2022. 

Moreover, February 2022 has experienced a monthly increase by 43.0 and 37.7% in marriage contracts and divorce certificates respectively. The total number of marriage contracts was 376 contracts, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 212 divorce cases. 

As for the Social Security statements, reached 79 Million Qatari Riyals in February 2022, for 14334 beneficiaries, Recording a monthly decrease of 1.3% for the value of social security and a monthly increase of 0.7% for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.

Total electricity consumption during February 2022 was 2460.6 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 10.0 and an annual increase of 2.4%. While the total water consumption has reached 46950.9 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly decrease of 8.4% and an annual decrease of 1.2%. 

As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 630.9 Billion Qatari Riyals during February 2022, an annual increase of 5.5% compared with February 2021. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 964.5 Billion Qatari Riyals during February 2022. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 5.7% compared to February 2021, when deposits recorded approximately 912.4 Billion Qatari Riyals.

Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 697 permits during February 2022, recording a monthly decrease of 8.2% and an annual decrease of 46.1%.

The total number of registered new vehicles during February 2022 has reached 6900 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly decrease of 13.6% and an annual increase of 34.2%. 

Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 682 traffic cases were recorded during February 2022, showing a monthly decrease of 4.9% and an annual increase by 8.1%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 91%, followed by severe injuries by 6%. However, 22 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 3% of total traffic accidents cases.
