• A monthly increase in the total number of ships and the total net tonnage of ships at 13.2% and 20.4%, respectively.
• A monthly drop in traffic-related deaths with a monthly change rate of 59.1% during August 2022, compared to July 2022.
• A monthly rise in the value of shares traded during August 2022 by 102.0%, compared to July 2022.
The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 104th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis. In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during August 2022 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2020 Census.
One of the most notable changes in this issue is the increase in total online transactions via the e-government portal "Hukoomi" at a monthly rate of 34.4% (compared to July 2022), and at an annual rate of 7.7% (compared to August 2021).
As for the numbers and values of properties sold, they increased at a positive monthly change rate of 22.4% and 31.4%, respectively, compared to July 2022. However, they decreased at an annual rate of 18.1% and 12.1%, respectively (compared to August 2021).
The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has increased from 2.57 million at August 2021 to 2.94 million at August 2022.
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 2092 live births have been registered during August 2022. Also, a decrease in the total Qatari live births by 23.3% comparing to last month. On the other hand, 229 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 7.5% compared to July 2022.
Moreover, August 2022 witnessed a monthly increase of 13.2% and 30.4% of total marriage contracts and the total divorce certificates for each one separately compared to the previous month. The total number of marriage contracts reached 317 marriage contracts, while the total number of divorce certificates reached 240 cases.
As for the Social Security statements, reached 79 Million Qatari Riyals in August 2022, for 14514 beneficiaries, Recording a monthly increase of 0.4% for the value of social security and a monthly increase of 0.1% for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.
Total electricity consumption during August 2022 was 6027.5 GWh attaining a monthly increase of 8.6% and an annual increase of 6.8%. While the total water consumption has reached 59212.8 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly increase of 3.1% and an annual decrease of 0.1% comparing to August 2021.
As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 678 Billion Qatari Riyals during August 2022, an annual increase of 12.4% compared with August 2021. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 973 Billion Qatari Riyals during August 2022. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 1.8% compared to August 2021, when deposits recorded approximately 956 Billion Qatari Riyals.
Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 784 permits during August 2022, recording a monthly increase of 42.5% and an annual increase of 25.2%.
The total number of registered new vehicles during August 2022 has reached 8830 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly increase of 50.3% and an annual increase of 26.4%.
Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 685 traffic cases were recorded during August 2022, showing a monthly increase of 8.9% and an annual increase by 22.1%. Light injuries are accounted for most traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 94%, followed by severe injuries by 5%. However, 9 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 1% of total traffic accidents cases.
As for tourism, the total number of inbound visitors reached about 148 thousand, recording a monthly decrease of 1.6% (compared to July 2022) and an annual increase of 138.3% (compared to August 2021). The highest number of visitors was from the GCC countries at 59%. As for visitors by type of port, the visitors via Air make up the highest percentage with 50% of the total number of visitors.
