The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 58th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis. In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during October 2018 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2015 Census.
One of the major changes in this figure is the increase in social security value at an annual rate of 4.4%, versus an increase of 7.7% (compared to October 2017). The number of vessels has also increased by 0.4% compared to September 2018, leading to a surge in total net tonnage of vessels at a monthly rate of 4.2%.
The demographic statistics showed that the total population of Qatar has increased from 2.67 million during October 2017 to 2.74 million at end of October 2018, an annual increase of 2.8%.
With regard to Vital Statistics, a total number of 2310 live births has been registered during October 2018, a 6.4% increase compared to September 2018. However, this increase was offset by an increase in the total Qatari live births by 18.9% compared to last month. On the other hand, 188 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 3.9% compared to September 2018.
Moreover, October 2018 has experienced a decrease in marriage contracts and in divorce certificates compared to September 2018. The total number of marriage contracts was 294 contracts, whereas the total no of divorces has reached 97 divorce cases; namely, one divorce for every 3 marriages.
As for Social Security statements, it reached 84.693 thousand Qatari Riyals in October 2018, for 15127 beneficiaries in the same month.
The bulletin showed that the total electricity utilization during October 2018 was 3512.5 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 14.4% and an annual drop of 11.6%. While the total water consumption has reached 37417.1 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly decrease of 2.4% and an annual drop of 17.6%.
As for the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 795 permits during October 2018, recording a monthly increase of 8.2%.
As for traffic accidents cases, a total of 515 traffic cases were recorded during October 2018, showing a monthly decrease of 1.3%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents during the same month, with 89%, followed by severe injuries by 8%. However, 14 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 3% of total traffic accidents.
The bulletin also highlighted that the total number of registered new vehicles during October 2018 has reached 6339 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly increase of 28.0% and an annual decrease of 1.1%.
For Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 571.2 Billion Qatari Riyals during October 2018, an annual decrease of 1.2% compared with October 2017. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 806.0 Billion Qatari Riyals during October 2018. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 1.5% compared to October 2017, when deposits recorded approximately 794.3 Billion Qatari Riyals.
